Contact usAn offstring yoyo is thrown with the string unattached to the yoyo, so it flies free and every trick ends with a catch back on the string. That style is called 4A. The shape is wide to make the catch possible and the body is plastic because the yoyo hits the floor often.
You can, but it is slower going than 1A string tricks. Offstring starts with a throw, a release and a catch, and there is no tug return to fall back on when it goes wrong. Most players land their basic throws on a responsive yoyo first, then come to 4A later.
They are not alternatives. This one only does 4A, where the yoyo leaves the string. The Pro Yoyo stays on the string and does 1A tricks including fingerspins. If you want one yoyo that covers the trick list most players work through, the Pro Yoyo at €54.99 is the better buy.
The throw is going out short or off level. Offstring needs a high, flat throw so the yoyo has time to drop onto the string, and the string has to be wide and taut when it arrives. The plastic body is built for those misses, which is why 4A yoyos are plastic, not metal.
In 1A the string stays attached to the yoyo the whole time. In 4A, or offstring, the string is only attached to your finger and the yoyo is free in the air, so the catch is the trick. The two styles want different yoyos, which is why this yoyo is bigger than a 1A throw.
The same polyester strings as any other yoyo. 4A needs no special string. Swap it when it starts to look furry, not when it snaps. Yoyo Strings come in packs, so a fresh one is always ready.
