Spinning Tops (Trompo, Peonza)
A spinning top - trompo in Latin America and peonza in Spain - is a top you throw on a string, land on its tip and keep going while you work it: onto the string, onto your hand, into tricks. Not a desk toy.

Ball bearing or fixed tip?
A ball bearing tip spins longer, so you have more time to land a trick. That makes it the easier place to start - more attempts per throw. That is the Ball Bearing Spin Top.
A fixed tip gives you more control, and it can be regenerated while you play - spun back up to speed mid-combo without landing it. That is what makes long combos and the harder tricks possible. That is the Fixed Spin Top.
Both are durable plastic with spare tips and strings included, and both survive concrete. We do not sell wooden, metal or collector tops - those are made for shelves, not freestyle tricks.

Things people ask about spinning tops.
Contact usBall bearing. It spins far longer, so you get more time and more attempts per throw while you are learning to land it on the string and on your hand.
A fixed tip is not a downgrade - it gives more control, and you can regenerate it during play, spinning it back up to speed mid-combo instead of starting again. That is what long combos and the harder tricks are built on, and it is where most advanced players end up.
The Starter Spin Top Set has one of each.
Yes. Trompo is the Spanish word used in Latin America; peonza is the word in Spain; spin top or spinning top is the English.
Trompo and peonza can mean the traditional wooden top spun on the ground. What we sell is the modern freestyle version with a bearing or fixed tip, built for tricks on the string and hand.
A trompo de rodamiento or peonza con punta giratoria is a ball bearing spin top; a trompo de punta fija is a fixed spin top. Everything on this page ships to Spain and to the US.
1. Wind the string tightly from the tip upward, each wrap touching the last.
2. Hold the top with the tip down and the string running over your fingers.
3. Throw forward and slightly down, pulling the string back as you release.
4. Let it land flat on its tip. Do not try to catch it yet.
5. Once it spins reliably, learn to land it on the string.

A desk top - ForeverSpin and similar - is spun with your fingers and left to spin. It is a collector's object and does no tricks. A trick top is thrown on a string, landed on its tip and then moved: onto the string, onto your hand, through a tunnel. Different object, different purpose.
The Starter Spin Top Set: a ball bearing top and a fixed top, spare tips, spare strings and a pouch. The Complete Spin Top Set adds the LED top. Tips and strings wear out with use, which is why spares are included rather than sold as an afterthought.
Yes. Most of our players are kids, teens and adults. There is no age ceiling and nothing here is battery powered. Just pure skill.
