How to Wind a Spin Top
Winding is the last thing between you and a throw. Wound loose or wound with gaps, the spin top will not spin, so it is worth getting right before anything else.

Step by step
Hold the spin top in your non-throw hand and place the string ring around the top.
Pull the string to the far side of the tip, then back towards you.
Wind the string around the spin top, stretched and tight, with no gaps between the turns.
If the string ring falls off or the string goes loose, start over.
Place the finger ring outside your palm, between your middle and ring fingers. Hold the spin top by the fingertips only, tip pointing up.
Now you are ready to throw.
