Black Hops on a Yoyo
Black Hops is one of the most difficult tricks in the game, and the last two hops are the worst of it. If Cascade felt comfortable, this is the next step up.
The trick in steps
- Start in Triple or Nothing
Start with Triple or Nothing. Hop the yoyo up, release the top string off your non-throw hand index finger and land the yoyo on the farthest string.
- Hop down to Trapeze
Repeat that hop and string release until you end up in a Trapeze.
- Hop up to Brother Mount
Reverse the movement: pop the yoyo up and catch it to land in a Brother Mount.
- Hop back up
Repeat that hop and catch until you are back in Triple or Nothing.
- Drop, roll out and bind
Drop the string off your non-throw hand index finger and roll out into a Trapeze, then bind to get the yoyo back to your hand.
Tips
- Spread the strings apart to make room for landing on the correct string
- Start in Triple or Nothing using fingers only
- Keep all the elements on your fingers
- Land in Triple or Nothing without any stops or back-and-forth swinging
Common mistakes
- Keeping the strings close together
- Landing on more than one string, or on the wrong string
- Using your wrists to spread the strings
