Is a trompo the same as a spinning top? And a peonza?
Yes. Trompo is the Spanish word used in Latin America and the US; peonza is the word in Spain; spin top or spinning top is the English. A trompo de rodamiento or peonza con punta giratoria is a ball bearing spin top; a trompo de punta fija is a fixed spin top. Everything on this page ships to Spain and to the US.

A desk top is spun with your fingers and watched. A trick top is thrown with a string and worked - landed on the string, on your hand, through a tunnel, and thrown again. Trick tops are plastic with a metal or bearing tip, they survive concrete, and they come with spare tips and strings because tips wear. That is what every top on this page is; metal and wooden collector tops are made for shelves.
